Limerick Panto Sociey Presents 'Snow White'

Limerick Panto Society was founded in 1985 with the purpose of creating and keeping Panto tradition alive in Limerick. The group is busy rehearsing at the LPYMA for this year's production Snow White, which will be staged, at the Lime Tree Theatre Mary Immaculate College from December 28th 2016 to January 8th 2017. Note Show times are 12noon, 4pm and 7:30pm.

This season's offering is Snow White and will be the society's 32nd annual production having commenced in January 1986 with Cinderella. The group will be producing this timeless classic for the fifth time. Emma O'Driscoll is our very special guest star - Emma needs no introduction to Panto patrons and has appeared many times with the Society. Emma has worked as a presenter on Children's TV for RTE. Emma is currently involved in many varied Projects and last year launched her new Limerick based Stage School Gem Stars. The Society is delighted to announce that Emma will play the title role of Snow White in this year's much anticipated production.

The society is thrilled that this year's show will once again be in association with the Crescent Shopping Centre. The Crescent has always supported the group and the Traders Association will be the main sponsors of the production this year. The society has also secured Corporate Sponsors Mr Binman, Jury's Inn, Shaw-Quirke Cleaning Supplies and McDonald's Limerick.

Tim Cusack will play the traditional Panto Dame. This year's Dame however is slightly different to other Pantomimes as he or should we say she is playing the 'Badie' of the piece. There is no need to worry, as Tim will still enthral both young and old with his zany sense of humour.

John Finn has penned the original script - John is widely known for his appearances with many of the local dramatic groups and has written many pantomimes for the Society. The story will as usual contain many surprises and promises many twists and turns along the way. John will play Sherlock Holmes and John as always will bring his unique sense of comedy to the role.

The Society continues its policy of supporting children's charities and this year the Charity Night is in aid of Enable Ireland. The Society has raised thousands of euros over the years in support of local charities and is delighted to be associated with Enable Ireland.

The most famous 'Catch Phrase' from Snow White is of course 'Mirror, Mirror on the Wall who is the Fairest of them All?' The Mirror is played by Laura Hunt - Laura has appeared many times with the Society and is the Social Media Officer for the group. Grainne McCarthy and Thomas Coneran are also involved in Social Media Promotion. Back to the story, when the Queen discovers that she is no longer the 'Fairest of them All' she decides to eliminate poor Snow White - but who will come to Snow White's rescue? The King, Snow White's father, played by Damian Shaw enlists the help of Sir Cecil Cringe to help protect Snow White. Panto stalwart Keith McGuane plays the hapless Sir Cecil.

The story line of Snow White involves a murder and we have to call in the services of Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson to resolve the mystery. Doctor Watson will be played by the talented Stuart Mackey. Paul Fitzgerald otherwise known as 'Street- Boy' makes a first appearance with the Society. Paul is well known for his slot on the Limerick's 95FM Radio Breakfast Show. Paul plays the part of Big One, one of the magnificent seven.

The Panto Society has had the support of local Stage and Dance Schools all through the years. Performing in Snow White will be Spotlight Stage School under the direction of Judy O'Connor and Margaret Hough, Expressive Arts under the direction of Pearl Kiely, May O'Halloran and Geri O'Sullivan. Many of Snow White's little friends in the forest will be played by pupils of Spotlight and Expressive Arts - indeed it is wonderful to see the talent being produced by all these hard working Stage Schools.

Paul O'Farrell makes his Panto debut and will play Prince Charming. Every good Panto needs a cook and this year we have Issey Fenton as Cookie and Yasmin McGarvey will ensure there isn't a dry eye in the house when her version of Cheryl hits the Lime Tree Boards. Shauna O'Halloran will play Chantelle, the Queen's annoying Hairdresser who does her best to 'improve' the Queen's look.

Tony Cusack who has vast experience in the Light Entertainment field will lead the production team for Snow White. Tony has assembled a talented and experienced group to ensure that this year's production will maintain the standards of past performances. Damian O'Brien will be the Stage Manager while Malachy Cusack will be looking after Production Management for this show.

The Panto will include many contemporary Songs from the Charts and hit shows and promises something for all tastes. Dance Direction of the Limerick Panto Chorus is in the capable hands of Carol Cusack - the Choreographer is Lisa Hogan and she is ably assisted by Laura Hunt. Morgan Roughan is the Chorus Master with Musical Direction in the hands of Michael Hinchy. The Society boosts a Chorus of over 50 talented performers who will perform a number of fantastic chorus numbers accompanied by a live orchestra - all being performed live on stage. Sandra Finn is Wardrobe Mistress ably assisted by Imelda Cusack.

When Snow White enters the Forest she encounters many strange and wonderful characters including a few familiar faces. Harry Potter and Hermione encounter Snow White and give her much needed support and help - these characters are played by Sam Kennedy and Rachel Hunt respectively. The magnificent seven are completed by Daniel Beck as Small One, Jake Madigan as Clever One, Oisin Gogarty as Cross One, Jessica Bourke as Hungry One, Cian O'Donnell as Funny One and Saorla Fenton as Middle One.
